&quot;Perhaps there will be another freak in Europe who will enjoy my work,&quot; said Yohji Yamamoto, a Tokyo-based designer in the early 1980s, before going to Paris.

Current fashion is neither minimalist nor monochrome, and Japanese critics are not fascinated by European criticism. The first fans of this work were the artists and intellectuals, that is how the international career of Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto began&nbsp; almost forty yearsa ago, in 1981.

Born in October 3, 1943, the designer calls himself a &quot;war widow child.&quot; His father did not return from World War II, but his mother did not marry a second time, completing a tailor&#39;s course and opening a small sewing shop to look after and then return her son to school. He wanted to become an entrepreneur. Mr Yamamoto completed his law degree at the prestigious Keio University. But the adult world did not attract - he hated him from childhood for what was wrong with his mother. So offered to help her in the sewing shop. The mother had not spoken to Yohji for two weeks. Then it came, provided you had to learn the tailor&#39;s craft.

Yohji was delighted to be able to become a student for a while. This is where the now prestigious Bunka College of Fashion, which has been the home of other acclaimed designers such as Kenzō Takada ( Kenzo ) and Junya Watanabe ( Comme des Gar&ccedil;ons ) - and, by the way, a former mom&#39;s tailor located in Shinjuku&#39;s administrative and commercial hub with the world&#39;s busiest with a station and a varied map of nightlife, home to people of all nationalities from all over Tokyo.

Yamamoto says that it was the spirit of the area that made the greatest impact on his work. Because of the vibrant crowd of the Tokyo area, he preferred black: &ldquo;There were countless people there and everyone dressed differently. Yamamoto recalls seeing a prostitute calling clients through her mother&#39;s sewing window when she was small, saying, &quot;Her shoe was so tight, brutal that those shoes became my phobia. High-heeled women still make me horrible. &quot;

The over-sexualized, European-desperate-looking Japanese claim to be looking at her mom&#39;s tailor. There was a desire to hide them under men&#39;s clothes, wide coats, and protect them from something - &quot;maybe from the eyes of men, maybe from the wind.&quot; Thus, avant-garde, deconstructed, asymmetrical clothing, irrespective of gender or size, comfortable athletic shoes and black, became the hallmark of the Japanese designer. &ldquo;Modest and arrogant. Simple and lazy but mysterious at the same time. And most importantly, saying, &quot;I don&#39;t touch you - you don&#39;t touch me.&quot; And the best way to reveal the structure, proportions and fabric of his clothes.

Eventually, becoming a cult fashion designer and winning top state awards in both his native Japan and France, the designer was not limited to the fashion podium. Y. Yamamoto has created costumes for the operas Madame Butterfly, Tristan &amp; Isolda, Susanoo, Life. By the way, it is the book about this very favorite designer of Dalia Ibelhauptaitė, she said, that inspired the costumes of the 2015 Bohemian opera Troubadour. One of the co-authors of Yamamoto and Yohji is Japanese director Takeshi Kitano. Yamamoto, for his part, has created costumes for the four T. Kitan films &quot;Brother,&quot; &quot;Doll,&quot; &quot;Zatoichi,&quot; and &quot;Takeshis.&quot;

The designer is best known to the general public from his 2002 collaboration with Adidas . According to Yamamoto himself, having spent two decades in Paris, he no longer saw his works on the streets, solely in private and museum collections. Realizing this, he felt very bad, so he turned to Adidas for cooperation. The affirmative answer came with lightning. In the same year, Yamamoto became the creative director of the new brand Y-3 , and the next was the first futuristic collection of sportswear and footwear. The highly successful collaboration between Y. Yamamoto and Adidas , which has had a major impact on the entire sportswear industry, continues to this day.

Despite Yamamoto&#39;s popularity and legendary status as a developer, his company was on the verge of bankruptcy in 2009 due to foolish board decisions. The designer was determined to quit. This time he was stopped by the second most important woman in his life, daughter Limi. Thanks to her and private equity firm Integral Corp., Yamamoto was reorganized and was released from debt and bankruptcy in 2010.

Yohji was given strength not only by her daughter, but also by her thoughts on her team. Feeling committed to them and thinking about them every time the creator&#39;s rebellious imagination takes it too far. This happens after less successful collections. Failures, according to Yamamoto, inspire him to go further, give him strength, and his imaginations are flooded with the most incredible images and ideas. Unfortunately, you can&#39;t dip your whole head into it because you remember people who sacrifice it and want them to be happy. Even so, Yamamoto, the lord of darkness, never went with other fashion freeways, only dark side streets: &ldquo;I feel safe there. If I went along, I&#39;d probably be struck. &quot;
